Silica Cement Admixture is made from Natural Volcanic ore. lt is natural amorphous mineral and is processed in controlled environment thus achieving equal grain size and quality in overall. As Silica Cement Admixture is in a finely divided state it combines with calcium hydroxide (produced by the hydrating Portland cement) in the presence of water to form stable calcium silicates, which have cementitious properties. This reaction is termed as pozzolanic reaction. Dense and durable concrete can be produced by the addition of Silica Cement Admixture. This is achieved because the presence of reactive silica generally reduces the heat of hydration and thus helps reducing the adverse effect of rapid hydration reaction resulting from the use of rich mixtures. In addition to this both grain and pore refinements occurred due to the reactive silica, resulting in increased resistance to permeability of water, carbon dioxide and other aggressive agents (acids), it also improves resistance to attack by sulfate soils and by sea water, and reduce bleeding.
Japan is a country which experiences frequent strong earthquakes and concrete strength is one of the most important factors for designing and constructing high-rise buildings and other civil infrastructures. Compressive strength of 100 MPA which is standard concrete strength for 60 storey buildings in Japan, can be achieved by adding suitable amount of Silica Cement Admixture.
